There were requests from several member countries to know how to pronounce Dō-Jō Kun (Principle of Kudo) in Japanese, so we have provided the following in the order of Japanese, pronunciation, and meaning in English.

We would like everyone to chant this at the end of practice at seminars, etc.

 

道場訓

DJō-Kun

Principle of Kudo

 

我々は空道の修行を通じ、

Wareware-Wa, Kūdō-No-Syugyo-Wo-TsuJi,

Through the pursuit of Kudo,

強固なる精神力と体力とを養い、

Kyokonaru-Seishinryoku-To-Tairyoku-Towo-Yashinai,

we develop great physical and mental strength,

文に親しみ智力を練り、

Bun-Ni-Shitashimi-Chiryoku-Wo-Neri,

educate ourselves and gain intelligence,

人と結びて有情を対し、

Hitoto-Musubite-Yjyo-Wo-Taishi,

and bond with people and enrich our emotions.

もって人格の陶冶をなし、

Motte-Jinkaku-No-Tya-Wo-Nashi,

Therefore, we shall be able to cultivate our personalities,

社会に寄与貢献することを希うものなり。

Syakai-Ni-Kiyo-Koken-Surukoto-Wo, Negaumononari.

and become positively contributing members of society.
